Advent

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” ~John 8:12

Holy candles

Lit in hope

Peace and joy

Laced in love

Everlasting

Flames ablaze

Light profound

Darkness flees

When God surrounds

The soul and self

Amen!

  9. Beautiful spare poem, Martha. So evocative of the season we find ourselves in. I love the picture of God surrounding our soul just like an Advent wreath.

  11. Poetically pointed, Martha--I'm impressed with how you're able to put such a powerful piece of truth into such a compact picture--and a little jealous. Timely and well done, my friend--God bless you for sharing your gifts at a time when they are so desperately needed.
