Our Father is at the Helm

Psalm 46:10
He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

These days have seen both tumultuous and precious times for our family.  We have grieved, we have rejoiced.  We have celebrated, we've been plunged into the depths of worry.  We have held anxiety in the palms of our hands, and we have seen how the love and presence of God have released our burden.

The one impression with which I'm left?  God is GOOD!

Today, I leave you with this poem I penned several days ago on my sister blog, Moments and Musings.  As immersed in God's Word as I try to be, I am a fallen human.  I don't always live up to my part of the bargain, but the Lord never fails me, even when I fail Him.  I simply had to share this again as it speaks from the heart He made to dwell within me.  May His blessings fill you with the peace which passes all understanding.

I Am the same
Today, tomorrow.
I am the joy
In midst of sorrow.
I Am the way,
The truth, the Life,
Comfort in
Your pain and strife.
Not forgotten,
Not mistaken,
You, my child,
Are not forsaken.
Soul awaken
To my plea
That by my side
You'll ever be.

When was there a time when God spoke profoundly to you and showed you the way to go?

Prayer:  Father, we say every day that You are in control and at the helm, then we too often take back our claim.  Loosen us, Lord!  Let us leave our burdens at the foot of the cross and be willing to go the distance with you, taking on that light yoke You have promised to us when we follow You.  All this we ask in Jesus' name.  Amen.

  1. Not very long ago I was going through a very rough patch Martha and in those painful days it was His guiding light that shone through making me fight it all out and reach here today.

I left my burden with Him and He ensured it was all taken care of.

    Lovely prayer, Amen <3

  2. Oh Martha, this is such an encouraging post, one that I needed to read RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE!! I love your poem. It speaks profoundly to my worrywart soul. We've hit a tough patch of circumstances and challenges in the last month or so, and it's been so hard to let God be God. Thank you for reminding me that even in difficult times, He is always GOOD.

    GOD BLESS!

    1. Amen, Sharon! I'm so, so glad this post spoke to you right where you are today. Yes, it's difficult to let God be God, but there really isn't another way to get through the tough times. He is always good is right!

  3. Martha, Your post is meaningful. I'm so thankful that the Lord is always there and He never changes. I'm thankful that He is supremely faithful, especially when I'm not! Psalm 46 is one of my favorite Psalms. There's a beautiful choral arrangement of Psalm 46, composed by Allen Pote that I sang in high school choir.

  4. lovely poem and Pin saying. Just this weekend I felt God's direction in a decision. Once I knew, I felt lighter, no longer weighed down. Then I knew I heard him right. Often if I experience the fruit of the spirit - peace, joy, etc - I know I am in God's will... blessings!

  5. Knowing the I Am. There can be nothing greater. I have been listening to I Am by Theocracy. it is 11 minutes long of music and praise to I AM. Probably not your cup of tea but a masterpiece on I AM.

    1. There is nothing greater, Bill, than knowing the I Am, our awesome God. I will check out this song for sure; yes, at 11 minutes, this song would be too unwieldy for an contemporary praise service, but I love Christian music of all types. Thanks for the suggestion!
