He Has Done It!

Psalm 22:30-31
Posterity will serve him;
future generations will be told about the Lord.
They will proclaim his righteousness,
declaring to a people yet unborn:
He has done it!

When I post the photo of my youngest granddaughter, Alexandra Nancy, on Facebook, I receive, among many beautiful and touching comments, this one from high school friend, Robb:  "Love the smile . . . Our future . . ."

It moves me to tears.

Alexandra is so vulnerable, knowing nothing but surrounding arms of love, basking in the awakening to life as she grows and develops with each passing day.  Her story is one the Lord already knows, and will be one for all of us who love her to discover in time.

Our hearts are filled with promise.

Promise for the future.

But . . .

In these difficult, trying days, when it seems the world has turned against those who first seek the Lord, the promise can become hard to hold on to.  No matter where we look, despair, depravity, and hopelessness prevail.  As Pastor Wallace warns us in church this past Sunday:  "The world has taken over the church; the church has not taken over the world."

A powerful admonition.

One we need to take to heart.

Because future generations must be told about the Lord and His saving grace; announced with grandeur and celebration, that they would remember.  After all, He has done it for those yet unborn.

And for His children abiding.

Our future?  Believing in God's promises.

Believing in the smile . . .

Remembering always,

God has done it!

~

Will you choose to believe in the smile of God?

Prayer:  Father, let us find the joy You wish us to experience in the smile of a child.  May we realize in that one smile, the gesture of the hope and the promise You have for this world, and continue to spread the Good News of Your saving grace to a world that does not want to hear Your righteous message.  Give us the grace and courage to spread Your Word fearlessly, that a people yet unborn will declare, "He has done it!"  In Jesus' name, we pray.  Amen.

  1. I don't know that I find any more comforting thought than the smile of God, the laughter of Jesus, and the joy of the Holy Spirit. It's good to remember, just like children do, that this is the secret to life - for it is a touch of heaven on earth.

    GOD BLESS!

(And yes, your granddaughter is precious!)

    1. Sharon, the smile is, indeed, the Father's loving touch from Heaven to earth. Laughter is healing and restorative in our lives. May we all be blessed by more of it!

  2. Martha, I share your concerns about the future. It's hard to witness just how far the American church has drifted from its beginnings--just a generation or two ago things were much different. Yet, there is hope--hope that God will raise up a generation of believers that will set the world on fire!

Even at this time, there are godly men and women proclaiming the whole Word of God, not compromising to keep others comfortable, happy. I'm thankful for that!

    1. Yes, Kim, there are those still proclaiming and those still serving the Lord no matter what the current winds of opinion tell us we should do. That is an immense blessing, and one upon which we should never give up. We both know that Christ will have the final say, but we must, as Christians, stand strong and fight the good fight. We can with His help!

  3. Love the hope here, Martha. I work with a young adult group who are so in love with Bible study and being good spouses and parents - gives me lots of hope for the next generation. As a grandma too I pray for our little ones - I am already praying for their friends and future spouses too. lots of protection surrounding them. love seeing that smile here. You have blessed my evening.

    1. Jean, your words about working with the younger generation gave me so much hope today. We do need to keep praying for all those who are coming along and in the offing. And what great advice to all readers here to continue to pray for your grandchildren in ways you may never actually realize. God is at work!!

  5. Hi Martha! I have a little three month old grandson, and I understand the feeling that these children are so loving and trusting. Will they bring peace to the world? Fortunately, they have faithful parents who will do their best to raise them in the way of God. I wish there were more like them.

The world can be a very scary place these days. How much we need the love and power of the Lord to cover and protect us. May He always pour His grace on us, and help us walk that road to love.
    Blessings,
    Ceil

    1. Oh, yes, Ceil, we need the Lord today in this world gone mad more than ever before. And like you, I pray my granddaughters will be brought up to understand God's love for them that they might faithfully love others.
