Matthew 23:15
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.
We know better
Than you
You can trust in us
When we tell
You what
You should believe
How you grasp
At ancient straws
Outmoded, outdated, wrong
We are right
Shine your light?
Ours is much brighter
Flaming conflict
Igniting chaos
Confusion rules the day?
Good! Less grounded,
You surrender
Your defiant will
To present time
Today's agenda
We will wear you down
We will wear you down.
Amen
School's out!!! Virginia and I will be leaving for Oxford this coming Monday to spend the week with Mom. And you know what that means! That's right, I won't be blogging during this time, and can't guarantee I'll be able to visit with you, but we'll see. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, my friends! Blessings!
Have a good time visiting your Mom.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy. :)

Bon voyage et au revoir. Enjoy yourself.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all.
Thanks so much, Victor. We will enjoy the time.

Wow, that poem....I just had to read it twice. I am concerned that we are being worn down in the USA, and other peoples and religions and political agendas are trying to take over what once was a Christian nation. Praying hard for our nation to wake up before it is too late. Have a blessed time with Virginia and your Mom. What a treat for all of you!!!! Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Pamela, you got the message accurately and absolutely! Praying for our country, too, each and every day.

Hope you and VR have a fantastic time visiting. Tell your mom I said hi and VR to behave herself. :)
ReplyDeleteI sure will, Bill. Thanks!
DeleteLove and blessings!
This is exactly what's happening in my country. :-(
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Frank. How tragic this trend is becoming. I'll be in prayer for both Canada and the USA.

Enjoy your blog-free family time, Martha Jane!! Safe travels!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terri! I certainly plan to have a great time with Virginia and Mom.

Have a wonderful time --
ReplyDeleteRegarding your poem -- it is a concern for us all :(
Amen, Carol, it is of deepest concern. Will be in touch after the trip, my friend.

That poem is sobering, indeed. Wishing you safe travels and good times!
ReplyDeleteI know it is, Mevely, and I hate that it's a "downer," so to speak, but it is the ugly truth, and it is happening. Not like Jesus didn't warn us 2,000 years ago that those who elevate themselves above others know nothing of who God is.

How sad we are in this age. Thank you, Martha for this timely post. Enjoy your vacation time. Safe travels. God bless you.
ReplyDeleteYes, such a sad time . . . Thank you, Nells, for your well-wishes here.

safe travel and enjoy your time!
ReplyDeleteI will, Jean.

Hope this sweet time with your mother has been fodder for your soul!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, My Friend!
Just got back today, Loralu, and had a marvelous time.

Your message and poem is a good reminder for me to be careful with what I spout off as truth vs what I perceive as truth. Also to be careful as to what I take in as truth from others...
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with your family and be safe!
Amen, Ryan! We do need to watch what we say to others and why we are even saying it. And we both know that source of ultimate truth, don't we?
DeleteLove and blessings!
Martha, enjoy your "unplugged" time with your mom and Virginia! Our country and world are in a mess--certain denominational leaders are leading people astray--the whole "universal salvation" lie.
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings!
Boy, do I hear you, Kim!!! Yes, we had a great time, and I just got home today (Friday). Will have Virginia one more night before taking her home tomorrow.

Have a wonderful time. The comment from reflectingthelight expresses my own reaction to your poem. We all make pronouncements sometimes about what we don't know for sure to be true. When we expect others to agree, or when we belittle those who don't agree, then how are we different from the pharisees? Likewise, we should be cautious about accepting other people's truth convictions without trusting our own inner guidance and knowing. Enjoy your trip.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your wise words here, Galen. We do too often make holier-than-thou proclamations when we should be guarding our lips and our hearts.
DeleteWe had a wonderful trip!
Love and blessings!
Great message and poem, Martha. I hope your time away was blessed and maybe continues on even now. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteIt was a rather hectic time away, but well worth it to see Mom. Glad you enjoyed this message, Karen!
