A Special Gift

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. ~1 Corinthians 12:4-5

Our oldest granddaughter, Virginia Rose, has always loved to draw.  We can tell by the time she is five that she has a blossoming gift for art.  Although she still creates many drawings using pencil and paper, Virginia's latest passion is using the program, IbisPaintX, to create characters and objects on her tablet.

Virginia uses her finger to do both the outlines of her drawings, and to color them in.  When she sends some of these to her Papa and me, we are both duly impressed.  I tell Virginia that I would like to feature her art in a blog, and she is beside herself with excitement!  Promptly, she forwards me the drawings she considers to be her favorites.  All those featured here are original works.

Now, these might be Virginia's favorites, but the following one is mine.  She does admit that she used a tutorial to get the eye just right, but tutorial or not, I think this is pretty stunning.

Yes, it seems God has blessed our granddaughter with a special and exceptional gift, one I hope she'll continue to pursue and develop as time goes on.  May Virginia, and her talent, grow in the grace and love of the Lord!

Amen!

  1. These are truly wonderful. What a talent. To draw and paint like that with her fingers. I'll look up the program. Wonder if it works on the PC. Thanx for this cheerful post, Martha ... and Virginia Rose. I like the "Save the earth" best.

    God bless.

    1. It is amazing what kids can do on their tablets these days, Pamela. I'm so happy that Virginia uses it for drawing much more than for playing silly games. Glad you think she has a gift for art, too, and it is my prayer she will continue to develop it.

  5. Wonderful!!! That eye is so very realistic. My personal favorite is #1 -- not so much the unicorn, but the foggy, dream-like background. It seems to beckon. Way to go, Virginia!

    1. Ed, Virginia does have a kid-friendly YouTube channel where she occasionally posts, but since school has started in earnest, she's not doing much of that. I will be glad to share more of her creations here in the future. So glad you loved her drawings!

  9. Miss Virginia Rose is phenomenal! Such creativity, use of light. Spectacular. Please thank this young lady for sharing her talents and insights with us today. Isn't it amazing how God gives each of us unique talents when He creates us. Then, he mixes those with spiritual gifts, as we grow as Christians; and suddenly, we can see how all of His plans come together to serve Him and shine His light into this world. Miss Virginia Rose's light is getting brighter with each day. :-) Thank you for sharing this special gift with us.

    1. Oh, and that's my constant prayer, J. D., that Virginia's light will continue to shine brightly in this world of darkness, that her creativity will speak to hearts that don't yet know the love God has for them. I know that her mom will be sharing these comments with her, and this is exactly what she needs to read. May she grow in grace and in the love of God!

Of course, I will continue to encourage her, as her mom and dad will do, and we will leave it up to the Lord as to how He uses her talents to spread His glorious Word.

  13. Your granddaughter has such a sweet face. We had an artist in our family when the kids were growing up. He showed signs of it in preschool and it never quit. He's now a 45-year old graphic artist working free lance from his home and doing very well. I wish your granddaughter well!
