Hanging by a Thread

He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap. ~1 Timothy 3:7

Surprised, suspended between heaven and earth

Tossed about by errant breezes wild

Caught in stray strand of spider's web

Held fast by sticky, stubborn thread of silk

Bane of insects, now the trap for leaf

Where to go?  What to do?  Expecting

Help to arrive with God's grace

Save me from the snares of sin, free me

For the mission You have ordained

That my journey here on earth persists

Until I hear Your call:  Come Home!

Amen

  2. Yep ... I agree. We're hanging by a thread. In His care.

    God bless.

  3. Sometimes this can be said of me I think. I'm hanging on by a thread, by the "hair on my chinny chin chin." But I realize this refers to the trap the enemy has set. And just as walking through a spider web is annoying, so is he and the traps he sets. I only wish I could brush them aside like I do the web. Your poem is a challenge and a warning.

  10. I love the imagery of always being connected to Him and heaven (home). I especially appreciate the "free me for the mission You have ordained". We must be willing to let God lead us to where He wants us to go and what He wants us to do. So often, we want to scream, "scoot over and let me drive, Lord". In reality, we need to surrender the driving of our lives to Him. Thank you and God's blessings Ms. Martha Jane. Always a big fan ma'am.

    1. Thank you most sincerely, Ron, for your kind and complimentary words here. Yes, the devil can spin his evil webs of deception we don't even see coming our way. May we be ever watchful! (By the way, the day after Danny took this photo, the leaf broke free - God will do the same for us.)
