There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. ~Ecclesiastes 3:1
Verdant leaf, once was I
One of many countless friends
Who waved and shouted glory
In the presence of the sun
Vibrant, filled with vigor
Waxing, no thought of waning
In the season yet to come
Season here, my color fades
Shining green steeped in brown
There's not strength to carry on
But in the letting go, I live
Because the promise of the One
Knows I have played my part
Amen
We're entering that time of life when we watch our childhood and teen years (those actors and singers who populated our youth) disappear, attend funerals of old friends, and seem to spend enormous amounts of time in doctor appointments. But it's life, the life we've been given. And it's good.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Glynn! God intends for us to celebrate every moment of our lives, no matter where we are in our seasons. It is good - always good - when we can give thanks for His many blessings.

Oh, Martha. This so resonates with me ... it may well be my favorite. (As is Ecclesiastes.)
ReplyDeleteThank you, and have a blessed day!
I'm so pleased to know that this resonated with you today, Myra. Ecclesiastes is so packed with wisdom, how can one not help but be drawn to it?

Letting go is hard. Like letting go of summer and facing the fact Fall is here and Winter will soon follow. But that is life. I want to live to see what God has in store.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Bill, that letting go isn't easy, but that is the way of life. There are changes at every turn and, trusting in God, we have to learn to navigate through them. I want to see what God has in store, too!

Beautiful and powerful as always, Martha! Mike and I just talked about seasons and change on our recent fireside chat-video hasn't been published yet. God did ordain seasons in creation and in our lives. God bless, friend. Karen Friday

"Letting go" of the leaves -- now that's clever. It is a time for letting go, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt is, indeed, time to let go of so many things in life that hinder us from being closer to God, Barbara.
