Psalm 104:24 (MSG)
What a wildly wonderful world, God!
You made it all, with Wisdom at your side,
made earth overflow with your wonderful creation.
My husband, Danny, is an avid, and I might add talented, photographer. Those of you who have followed my blog for any length of time have no doubt viewed many of his photos here. And it's been Danny's dream for quite a while to acquire a super-duper, hefty zoom lens, like the ones you see the National Geographic photographers toting around. Thanks to an unexpected windfall recently, Danny takes the plunge!
This is a Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG. No, I have no idea what all those numbers and letters mean, but does it matter? No! Not when he can take photos like these from an unimaginable distance.
It's that ravenous, rascally Racer!
Mrs. Prancer and her friends hanging out in our woods.
No, this is not Reverend, as he is a Great-horned owl in The Glade Series, but this Barred owl is a majestic bird nonetheless.
This mockingbird, either bravely or foolishly, perches close to the Barred owl, looking for an opportunity to harass him.
A Downy woodpecker in search of dinner.
And look who returns for a special photo-op: Stumpy!
However, as he is frolicking near where Mr. Owl is stationed, we can't help but wonder if this poor little fellow will evade this predator.
Yes, God has generously made our forested yard overflow with His wonderful creations.
And we give thanks for His wildly wonderful world.
Amen!
Postscript: Danny spied Stumpy again this past Sunday. He lives!
Great pictures Martha! Glad Danny was able to get his "toy." I'm sure it will be well worth every penny.
ReplyDeleteYes, it will be worth every penny, Bill. I'm so glad you enjoyed the photos, too! I know I do. :)
DeleteLove and blessings!
I forgot how cool a great telephoto lens makes our picture-taking!
ReplyDeleteIt is very cool, Roy! Yes, Danny is having loads of fun with this new gadget.

Since I have now given up all cameras and just take bad photos with my phone from time to time, I can appreciate and admire the enthusiasm and talent reflected in Danny's photos. Those are terrific. And glad that Stumpy made it to frolic another day.
ReplyDeleteDanny certainly inspires me to use my camera more - it has a zoom lens, too, but nothing like this "monster."
DeleteAnd I'm with you about little ol' Stumpy; hoping he enjoys a long and happy life!
Love and blessings!
These are wonderful photos, Martha. Well done Danny!
ReplyDeleteI have never been good with cameras. I now have a cell phone with a camera in it. Whenever someone calls me I press the wrong button and take a photo of my ear.
God bless.
Lol, Victor!!! I can only imagine how many ear photos you have amassed to date.
DeleteAnd I will pass on your kind words to Danny.
Love and blessings!
Love the nature photos!! Isn't God's world so fascinating and interesting, not to mention beautiful? I know my camera opened up a whole new world for me. I don't have the super duper lens like Danny, not sure I'd know what to do with it. But photography is a wonderful hobby...it enables us to see things in God's world more clearly, and to appreciate it even more! Thank you (And Danny) for these lovely photos!! Enjoy!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed the photos, Pamela! Can you believe Danny's new lens weighs 5 pounds??? I could never handle that! So glad my little camera does have a zoom on it, though it's no where near as powerful as this one, of course.
DeleteAnd yes - God's creation never ceases to amaze me. He has truly blessed us with this wildly wonderful world.
Love and blessings!
Martha, Danny's photos are simply stunning. God's creation is so incredibly amazing and beautiful! Seeing photos like this causes me to praise the Lord. It appears that Danny is thoroughly enjoying his new "toy".
ReplyDeleteLove and blessings!
He is enjoying it immensely, Kim! Today, he went out roaming the woods, hoping to get a photo of one of our resident hawks, and he succeeded. Though way, way up in a pine, the lens captured him perfectly. What a blessing!
DeleteAnd I'm so glad that photos like these inspire you to praise God. His creation, His works, are always worthy of our praise.
Love and blessings!
Oh Wow, Martha! I love Danny's new lens. I'm so glad he was able to finally get them. I well understand his dream to have them. :) Thank you for sharing these awesome photos, too! They have refreshed my spirit. :) Love and hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I sure hope Stumpy survived!
Trudy, I'm so, so glad these photos inspired you and refreshed your spirit! I will make sure to pass your accolades on to Danny, although he does often check comments on my blog.
DeleteAnd yes, to date, Stumpy is alive and well!
