Conception

My husband, Danny, and I have traveled the same route multiple times, for 14 years, to spend vacation time at different mountain cabins in North Carolina.  And for all those years, the sign featured here has caught our attention.  I've often wanted to pull over and snap a photo, but sadly, there is no convenient way to do so as it is on private property.  So to the person who posted this on Google Images, I am indebted, and I hope you don't mind my borrowing it.

For you created my innermost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
~Psalm 139:13

Conception
Sacred moment
Not a mass
Of tissue
Unfeeling
Dull, void
Of being
But real
And vibrant
Living
Feeding
Wanting
Birth, love
Unending
Will you
Acknowledge?
Give life
To me?

Amen

  3. Martha, POWERFUL!
As you know, I'm addressing the issue of abortion in the Beauties from Ashes series. I am just grief-stricken over the recent news.
Thank you, my friend for giving a voice to those who are being silenced.

    1. Beckie, yes, I'm well aware that you are taking this issue head-on, and for that, you must be congratulated! With you, I'm joining with the grief-stricken and the "how can you even begin to think that?" sympathies. How I fear for our nation, that the media and all in consort with them have lost their moral compass. There is no fear of God, only denial and defiance. Let us not give up hope, but continue to pray!

  4. I absolutely agree with Bill's comment above. And your precious words, Martha. Oh, there have been tears in our household lately! We cry and mourn for those dear lives who were never allowed to be lived, and we wonder unceasingly HOW, those claim to be civilized could not only allow, but take such glee in the act of murdering the innocent. It is incomprehensible and beyond anything I ever thought would be condoned and promoted on US soil. How God must weep, too, and how He watches it and holds back is beyond me. Thank you for posting this and for your faithfulness to God. May He pour out His richest and best blessings upon you, my friend.

    1. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your kind and understanding words here, Cheryl. I think the biggest mistake we have made in combating this assault on human life has been in not being more aggressive in supporting it. The left no longer couches their support for abortion in terms of mindless tissue, but is now so brazen that they are hailing infanticide as a mother's right. So, what is murder? Who gets the death penalty? If a baby exists until the terrible twos, do parents have the right to terminate their lives just because they are irritating?
Pandora's box has been opened, and for me, this is the last straw!

  6. I have thought about this so much, especially in the past couple of weeks more than ever before. Only God knows who all those precious little souls are and what He had planned for their lives if only our "choice" would have been to let them live. How terribly sad and tragic for all of us. Thank you for your thoughts in verse...and that sign. I have been grieving so much these past few weeks over this issue. May God continue to stir our hearts to pray and to stand firm in our beliefs. I, too, am wondering how long He will wait to bring about justice for these little ones.

    1. Amen, Pamela! It has been precisely the horrendous legislation passed in NY that has prompted me to speak up about it. My heart is breaking for these little ones, too, and the fact that the entire abortion issue is now, at least in one state, a matter of infanticide. How did we, as a nation, ever get to this immoral point? Lord, please save us all!

  7. Martha, Thanks for having the courage to post this. It is an issue I feel we cannot be silent on. We are talking the lives of little babies, not an inconvenience, not a choice!

I find it sickening that we have laws in this country protecting the lives of unborn eagles, reptiles, etc. yet the same laws do not exist to protect our unborn children.

I usually don't get involved with "political" discussions, but I will say this IS my primary and almost only voting standard at this point. I will NOT vote for anyone who is pro choice or undecided on the matter. To me, there isn't another single more important criteria.

    1. Amen, Ryan! Yes, for the most part, I refrain from getting political about anything on this blog, but this latest legislation in NY was the straw that broke the camel's back. And isn't ironic that we have all those laws to protect endangered species, and if we speak up against those, we are labeled all kind of derogatory terms by the same people who cheer when laws are passed allowing babies to literally be killed. Like you, I will not vote for any pro choice candidate - ever!

    2. OK ... I have a problem. In the UK, quite often, ALL the candidates for election are pro-choice.

      God bless.

    3. Oh, dear, Victor, that is a big time problem! But could they really seeing it go to this extreme? Had a note on Facebook from a friend in Canada who says they are already practicing this abomination in his country. What is this world coming to? Only God knows, and we sure need His help right now.

  9. Martha, thank you for sharing this post--it's a timely one. I fear that we're ripe for God's judgment--His righteous judgment. Things are growing increasingly more out of control by the day.

I love the sign that you shared. It seems like I've seen a similarly worded email or poster several years ago.

All life is precious in God's sight--each person has value, despite what society might say.

    1. Yes, I fear the same, Kim. The Judeo-Christian fabric of our society is coming unraveled on a daily basis, and it's so frightening to witness. How can people not value the lives of the unborn? It goes against all we believe as Christians. May we hold firm in our faith, and put on the whole armor of God as we fight the inroads of the devil himself.
