Hope Prevails

Matthew 13:5-6
Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.  It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.  But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.

Errant sprout
Inspired by
God's grace
Springs up
With promise
And hope
Word heard
Shallow soil
Dooms growth
To nothing
Yet it lives
In Son's mercy
Hope prevails
Even in death

Amen

  1. There's plenty of shallow soil these days, sad to say.

    God bless you, Martha.

Oh no. I don't want to even imagine that sort of meaningless existence.

  4. The important thing is to keep planting those seeds...and let God take care of the rest.

  5. Martha, hope does indeed prevail in Christ! I frequently pray for soil of hearts to be fertile--to receive the seed--then let God bring the growth.

    Beautiful poem, my friend!

    1. Oh, how cool is that, Lisa? Such fun to plant seeds with little ones; we've had our oldest granddaughter help us with planting many times, and she loves it. And yes, there is ever reason to hope.

  10. The reason why it is so important to make sure I am planted in good soil... Without it, there is no protection from the harshness of the world, no nutrients for growth, and nothing to sink your roots into when the going gets touch.
