All in the Moment

Matthew 15:28
Then Jesus said to her, "Woman, you have great faith!  Your request is granted."  And her daughter was healed at that moment.

Coming and going
Winning and knowing
Losing and grinning
All in the moment
Living and dying
Failing and trying
Again and again
All in the moment
Anguish and tears
Troubles and fears
Heads ugly, to rear
All in the moment
Hope of salvation
Divided nation
Healing from hurt
All in the moment
For in a moment
Past and future
Placed at odds
What has been
And what can be
Overshadowed
All in the moment

Amen

  2. It does only take a moment for things to change. A game can be won with a single play, a life taken, a job gained, sad news received, yet the best news of all given in one decision.
    It only takes a moment...
Your poem reminds me of how how fickle life can be... constantly changing. Yet there is a constant and His name is Jesus.

    1. Jesus is the constant, Ryan, the same now and forever. Life does and will change, like it or not. Thank goodness we can lean upon our savior, the One who never changes.

  4. "All in the moment" - I try to live more in the moment, but my mind continues to drift toward worries and anxieties for the future. Thanks for this reminder, Martha, to stay put right where I am!

    1. Lisa, we have to remind ourselves that the present moment is all that is guaranteed to us. Over the years, when I find myself swerving into the "what-if" worries, I've prayed instead. No, I haven't perfected the process, but we are all works in progress, aren't we?

    1. Thank you, Trudy! I do hope folks who read this will think again about the futility of living in the past or the future when the moment is all we truly have.

  6. Martha, you've presented some deep thoughts here. In a single moment lives can change: a diagnosis, an accident, a new friend made, and so much more. Yet, God is there, always and forever--knowing the end from the beginning.

    1. And that is our comfort, Kim - God knows the end from the beginning, and will ever be there for us, no matter what. Yes, things can change in a moment, but the Lord never changes.
