God is With Us

Where can I go from your Spirit?  Where can I flee from your presence? ~Psalm 139:7

No matter where we go in our lives, God goes with us.  His desire is to keep us close to Him, known, treasured and loved at all times.  Nothing drives this fact home to me more than the events on the recent multi-state trip Danny and I take in October.  Everywhere we looked, every place we visited, presented gorgeous fall scenes like the photo above.  Wow!  God's artistry is breathtaking!

In my previous post, I couldn't be frank about our plans; it made Danny nervous to announce that we would be absent from our home for 16 long days.  I'm sure you all understand that if any news leaked about the trip, our home's safety could be in jeopardy, as there are, unfortunately, any number of miscreants out there, more than eager to prey upon law-abiding citizens.  Is there anyone else out there who is hoping for change in the political winds on November 8?

Danny and I depart Kennesaw on October 11 to embark on a multi-state tour to reconnect with family.  Never before have we attempted to travel so far in one vacation.  The round trip covered a whopping 1900 miles!

Our first stop is Knoxville, Tennessee, where we spend the afternoon and evening with my son, Daniel, and his lovely fiance, Heather.  It is a real treat to reconnect with Daniel and to get better acquainted with our future daughter-in-law.  Heather is one gem of a young lady, and I let her know, on no uncertain terms, how pleased we are that she accepted Daniel's proposal.  What a delightful addition to our family she will be!

We've known from the beginning that neither Heather nor Daniel desires a large wedding; just a simple exchange of vows at the courthouse will do.  Yet, as of October 11, no date has been set.  So, imagine our complete surprise when Daniel calls the next week to announce they have registered for a marriage license, and will tie the knot on October 27th!  Are we overjoyed?  You better believe it!

And we know that through all their days together, God will go with them, blessing and keeping them in His love and grace.

Amen!

  2. Dearest Martha Jane,
Wow, that was a coincident that just yesterday morning I came driving home from our trip to the mountains with a stay in Knoxville, TN.
Yes, there are many wonders in nature to be admired and to see our Creator at work!
Your son Daniel and his Heather both look very happy—congratulations to all and for you for having gained another daughter–in–love!
Both of us have never ever announced our travels on social media. Too many people do that—like announcing to the world: Come rob me we're not home...
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. Exactly, Mariette! We certainly don't need to announce our travel plans in advance. And yes, a stay in Knoxville is quite the coincidence. :) Hope you all enjoyed your trip.
I am beside myself with happiness for my son and brand new daughter-in-love; they are both so precious to us, and we pray that every joy will be theirs.

    1. Thanks so much, Trudy! I have to admit that I often wondered if Daniel would ever find the right girl for him, and I'm so very grateful that he has. Heather is the perfect daughter-in-love.

  7. Congratulations, Martha! So glad to hear the happy news. Isn't it wonderful when our children add delightful in-laws to the family? Our three have all been married for at least 14 years. Now I can't imagine our family without our two daughters-in-law and one son-in-law. There's nothing better than when we can all be together!

  8. Congratulations, Martha! The 'kids' look so happy, and I can't help but think how Virginia resembles her Uncle Daniel! Given today's climate, keeping your travel plans under wraps was certainly a wise move. Praying for next week's election results!

  10. I see Myra said exactly what I was thinking, that Virginia resembles her Uncle Daniel! I thought that exactly when I saw him, except he has whiskers! LOL. How wonderful that you now have a beautiful new daughter in love! What a marvelous blessing for you and your family! I am so happy for you all! So glad you were able to take a nice fall trip and see so much beauty. Thank you for your message on my post today. I am taking a little break from "packing" so I can catch up with everyone. So happy for you!!!

    1. I'm so very honored, Pamela, that you took a break from the frantic packing to get back to me! Honestly, I doubted if Daniel would ever find the love of his life and get married, but now all that has changed for the better, years with hope's promises laying before them both. I couldn't be more joyful and pleased with my new daughter-in-love, and I know she will love Daniel completely, and keep him on the straight and narrow. What else could I hope for? :)

  11. Martha: A friend of mine was excited about getting to work at a spiritual retreat. She put it on social media, and she got robbed. Her deductible on her insurance was higher than the value of what she lost. You were right in waiting to tell us where you have been. It is a rule that more people should utilize. Peace and blessings to you and yours. P.S, your son's wife is very attractive,

  12. We can't take too many precautions in this day and age, sad to say, but I'm so grateful we didn't advertise. I'm so very sorry for your friend's loss as a result of indiscretion. As Christians, we are prone, I believe, to think the best of everyone when we should be realistic and pray for those who think that crime is the way to go.
Yes, I agree, Heather is so attractive, inside and out. I'm overjoyed for the both of them!

  16. I love good news, Martha, and hearing about your trip was uplifting and encouraging. I agree with your husband about not announcing your absence. We get concerned sometimes about how our kids make it evident on social media that they're not home, and that's a dangerous thing to do these days. Diane and I also rejoice with you about the upcoming addition to your family. We have a daughter-in-law that we couldn't possibly love more if she was biologically connected, and other than Jesus Christ, the best thing that ever happened to our son. I also join you in the hope that next Tuesday, we'll see the beginning of a push to break the grip of the satanic forces choking the life out of our beloved Republic. Thanks again for the bright spot in our morning.
