Psalm 121

In reading many of your blogs and reflections this past week, I find that every one of you have been going through some rough patches in your lives as of late.  When I'm feeling overwhelmed with sadness, worry or uncertainty, I often rely on the Psalms for comfort and peace.  I thought that a selection of Danny's photos from our various trips to the mountains over the years paired with Psalm 121 might boost your spirits and bring you closer to God as you marvel at and revel in His majestic handiwork.

I will lift my eyes to the hills - From whence comes my help?

My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to be moved, He who keeps you will not slumber.  Behold, He who keeps Israel  Shall never slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.

The sun shall not strike you by day,

Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil, He shall preserve your soul.

The Lord shall preserve your going out and coming in

From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Amen!

    1. Thank you, Debby, for your encouraging and uplifting words that make our hearts sing! God's word always brings the hope we need at the time we need it. Honestly, I was so emotionally exhausted from the death of Charlie Kirk and the surgery Danny just successfully went through, my words felt inadequate to express the praise and thankfulness to God found in this Psalm.

  20. Beautifully done, as always, Martha. The scenes you selected match perfectly with the kinds of pictures our hearts often create when we read God's encouraging words. His promises are more secure than the mountains you portrayed and the hope they give is more refreshing than the mountain streams, and knowing that as we view the scenes and read the words is incredibly encouraging. Thank you for another inspirational view of the gifts God has given the two of you. May His love and His strength be obvious as the rest of your week unfolds.

I have a large print Bible with a purple soft cover that I love that I use to read scripture . I still use my heavy study Bible but I no longer haul that to church. I’m sentimental with that one and have had it for 40 years and it has all my notes in it.
