Find Rest

Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. ~Psalm 62:5

I can hear some of you now: "Didn't she just take a blogging break?  Why is she choosing to take another one so soon?  Is everything alright?"

Rest assured, my friends, everything is absolutely fine.  But it's October.  The weather is blissfully cool, and the air is vibrant, fresh and crisp.  After an interminably long and hot summer, where there wasn't a day when I didn't feel drained and defeated by the heat, I want to fully embrace this fall season with all the attention and celebration it deserves.

So, my plans are to spend as much time as possible outdoors, reveling in the autumn sights and unique colors.  Who knows?  Danny and I may take some day trips here and there to fully savor the delights of this season.

The long and short of it is, though, I want to devote my attention fully to immersing myself in this season of the year.  I won't be blogging for the next several weeks.  I will try to visit all of your blogs as I can, but please don't think I'm ignoring you if I don't leave comments.  I value each and every one of you, and will keep you in my prayers while I'm "gone."

May you all embrace the wonders that autumn brings, and welcome the rest God provides when we take time to reflect and pray, and give thanks for His continued blessings.

Amen!

  6. Martha: This sounds like a great plan for you. We are in the middle of a kitchen face-lift. I am trying to get some things sorted out in my mind. I need to go back to my practice of taking a blog break around or after the major holidays. Don't know why I got out of that habit. Peace and blessings to you and yours.

    1. It's a great plan for all of us bloggers from time to time, Cecelia. I used to worry that in my absence some friends might fall away, but a true friend never will. I do love all my dear blogging friends I've made over the years, and I know they understand that we all need to celebrate the Sabbaths.

  7. Looking forward to your observations and photos, Martha! No doubt, the time for focused attention will allow for new discoveries. Meanwhile, I'm sitting here on our deck, reveling in a sunny but cool and crisp afternoon, with squirrels scampering through the trees, and a few birds flitting here and there. Not too many afternoons left like this--must savor them while we can!

    1. Oh, yes, Nancy! The scene you've described here is absolutely idyllic, and definitely reflects my heart's desire. I've found, too, that I do my best writing when I'm not rushed or feeling pushed to come up with something. In the last break I took, I wrote three poems - not shabby! :)

I won't be blogging while on the road later this week so will be playing catch up when I return (with stories & photos!). 9. Dearest Martha Jane,
Guess all of us have been waiting for this wonderful season.
It did not start quite the perfect way, while hurricane Ian was affecting so many living south of us. Even in the air, it could be noticed—no sunshine for days.
May with the help of the entire nation—as good Samaritans, those affected most, get through this!
Yes, we look forward to some great fall colors in north Georgia and above!
Reliving some fond memories from our trip (too hastily—due to our forced move up north by Campbell's Soup) in July of 1988. Back then there was no Internet, no GPS but I guess I found out it was on Chimney Tops Overlook.
Friday morning by 8:00 AM the tree guys will finally honor my request from April 3... Talking about delays and difficulty finding workers!
But life goes on and we all are far better off than millions in areas where war has literally shattered their life on earth.
May God hear the many prayers from those that adhere to high morals and his commandments.
    Big hugs,
    Mariette

    1. May the Lord always hear our prayers, and especially now for those in war-torn nations and for our Florida friends who have suffered so much in the wake of Hurricane Ian. What a disaster! But we can learn so many lessons from our brave neighbors as they begin to rebuild with determination and resolve.
We do hope to be rejuvenated by this time or rest, Mariette.
      Love and blessings!

  11. Have a hope-filled relaxation and rejuvenation, Martha! I, too, am looking forward to yours and Danny's fall pics. I was thinking today again as I walked of how amazing it is in the difference of trees. So many arrays of colors and some keeping their green longer than others. God is such an amazing artist! Love and blessings to you!
