The Gardener

Matthew 13:21
But since they have no root, they last only a short time.  When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.

It thrives here, now
In recesses of grainy
Soil collected over
Time by deck wanting
Pressure wash, cleansing
Sprout, hope's fountain,
Will not be deterred
In spite of mounting odds
Every day, new promise
Believing above all
That soil, rich, will hold
When the Gardener sows

Amen!

  1. If only ... if only God's Word takes root in peoples' hearts, Martha. How much better this world would be? We can pray in the sure hope that more people will turn to Him soon. A revival, perhaps.

    God bless.

  3. Thanks Martha. What amazes me is how weeds or grass finds its way through asphalt to find life. there has got to be a poem or a mediation there! :)

    1. That's always amazed me, too, Bill. Seeds are definitely opportunistic, and plants can sprout from the most unlikely places.

  4. Amazes me that you have an eye to see something so small, so insignificant in the eyes of many and not just take a picture, but it spawn a thought turned into poem turned into prayer.
    Thanks for sharing Martha.

  8. That little sprout can exert so much pressure it can eventually crack something as strong as concrete. Faith can do the same thing! It's mighty.

  9. What a great picture and beautiful words to remind us of our Father's ultimate sovereignty over His creation. "Whom shall I fear?"

Yes. So grateful we can legitimately maintain that hope in what God can and will do.

  13. Beautiful poem Martha. Seeds do need good soil (and the right environment) to grow into what they are to become. The DNA of a seed determines what grows: flowers, trees, cucumbers, and so forth.
