Must I make this change?
A detour never asked for?
Where is the peace that passes
Earthly understanding?
When so confused, chaos

Of hapless, helpless souls
I am always with you
The Promise is and was

This is one of my favourite Bible passages, Martha. Knowing that Jesus/God is always with us and the commandment He gave us to spread His Word. That is why people like you and me keep on blogging in the hope that someone, somewhere, might read what we write, and perhaps not comment, yet take what we say to heart. Yes, often (for me) the going is tough and I get discouraged. But we should keep on going and, most important, support each other in our mission.

This is a verse that gives me much comfort, too, Victor. We can continue, and we must, to put one foot in front of the other, day after day, knowing that Jesus goes with us. And that is my prayer that others will read our blogs, maybe not take the time to comment, but will be convicted to turn to the Lord.

We never like detours in our lives, when we thought we had it all figured out. But God sometimes makes these changes for our good (not sometimes, but always) even though we can't see it at the time. It is difficult to trust God when we can't see the end in sight, but He promises to be with us all the way to the end...so let's just keep pressing ahead. There is nothing too hard for Jesus!
ReplyDeleteNothing is impossible with God, Pamela, you are so right! We can be so stubborn when changes come that we'd rather not encounter, but trusting in God during those times is the best choice we can make. He is faithful to see us through!

Thank you for your kind words here, Bill. Amazingly, I wrote this poem a long time back, before the current crisis hit. As I was perusing my tucked away poems, this one jumped out as being so appropriate for this time and place. Yes, Jesus is with us until the end of the age. Such comfort!

Oh, how thankful I am that He WILL be with us until the very end. What would we do without Him in these troubled, crazy times? He is surely our only hope, and to know that He will never leave or forsake us brings the deepest comfort of all. Blessings to you!

This beautiful post goes along so well with the book I am reading right now - Out of Sorts by Sarah Bessey. She writes about the importance of discipleship. I especially loved this line: "The Promise is and was, And will forever be". So true, Martha!
