Prayer is Enough

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place.  When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples." ~Luke 11:1

Restless, sleep escapes her

When most, she needs it

To comfort, assuage

Worries overtaking

Heart, soul, mind

Until the dam breaks

Thoughts flood unchecked

Sweeping all away

From her perspective bleak

All that's left is prayer

Prayer is all that's needed

Prayer is enough, enough

And ever will be

Amen

Post Script:  My mother fell at her home on Monday and fractured her knee.  Danny and I are leaving today (Tuesday) to be ready to get her out of the hospital.  When it rains, it pours, doesn't it?  Yes, all that's left is prayer, and it's the best gift we've been given by our Lord.  My Mom needs yours, and you are all prayer warriors, par none!  I know you will come through, and so will our loving Father.  Danny isn't supposed to travel, but is willing to make this journey out of love for Mom.  May all of our journeys be made with that same faith, trust and hope.  Blog on Friday?  I'll try!  We will see how this all unfolds.  Blessings to all of you, dear friends!

  5. Dearest Martha Jane,
Not to worry about a post and just keep Danny as much stress free as you can. Sure, prayers are the very best remedy. Wishing you Mom the very best and you too; you're covered in prayers and lots of love.

Father God, You are the Great Physician. We trust You to take care of Martha’s mother in ways only You can. Guide all the medical staff and we ask for complete healing. Protect Danny and keep him healthy. Give them safe travels. Guard everyone with the peace that surpasses all understanding. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen

  10. Oh dear, Martha, yes it seems that way, or so Satan would like us to think.
This scripture comes to mind, dear Sis. Think prayer is that banner (or standard) we lift up!
Isaiah 59:19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
Lifting up that standard, banner of prayer with you. God bless and keep all of you, in all your journeyings with our sweet Lord.
Thanks for Sharing, God indeed bless and keep you safe, and all those you love,

  16. Powerful poem. Straight from the heart. Lord, encompass Martha and her family during this trial. Touch and heal her mom, fill her with your amazing grace and comfort. May she and all concerned be filled with your holy presence both now and always.

  18. Comment is late, Martha, but prayers are not. You're so right that when challenges rain, they seems to pour. The piece you shared is perfect for a situation like yours, and prayer is, indeed, not only enough, but sometimes it's all we have anyway. Ours continue to be with you and our confidence, like yours, is always totally in the One to whom all healing belongs.
