Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. ~James 5:16
As promised, here is a brief update on my husband, Danny, after his surgery on Thursday.
We arrive at the hospital an hour ahead of schedule, but they take him back to prep him almost immediately, 8:30 in the morning to be exact. I don't see him again until 6:00 p.m. that night when he's coming out of the anesthesia. Yes, the actual surgery lasted over five hours!!!
Needless to say, it is a long, long day for both of us, but it has all paid off. Danny is discharged this morning (Friday) before noon, and looks to be the very picture of good health. Both of couldn't be more relieved and grateful to the doctors and nurses who performed the procedure and looked after him in the hours that followed.
And we can't thank you all enough for your prayers. I could feel them. They kept me strong and hopeful throughout my hospital vigil. I wouldn't have made so calmly and collectedly without them.
May our loving Father in Heaven bless each and every one of you, and keep you safe and secure in His comforting arms!
Amen!
Amen! Praise be ...

Dearest Martha Jane,
ReplyDeleteOh, such an about 6 hour wait is quite tough. Had to live through that while Pieter had his quadruple bypass and stent placed in his neck... that lasted longer and longer. But prayers certainly do work!
So happy for you both, being home is such a blessing and only there you can really REST.
Big hugs to you both,
Mariette & Pieter
Oh, Mariette, I didn't know that Pieter had to go through such a tough surgery, too. The good news? He made it through! Yes, the wait while a loved one is in surgery seems interminable, but with prayers, we can make it through, too. Hugs right back at you both!

I can imagine what a long day that was for you, waiting and praying...but God was certainly with you both, and now hopefully Danny will be feeling so much better! And maybe you will be able to finally make that trip to see the grandkids when he is ready to travel again. Praying for you both as he recovers and rests. God bless you dear friend.

My experience was the very same when my husband underwent a liver transplant. I knew many people were praying and felt comforted and upheld by them. The peace and calm of those hours surprised me as God proved himself faithful and caring throughout the long vigil. Hallelujah! SO glad Danny is doing well--praise God, Martha!
ReplyDeleteNancy, I'm so encouraged by your words here, as you, too, experienced the absolute power of intercessory prayer. The peace and calm are unmistakable. A liver transplant sounds so scary, and I'm so thrilled to know your husband made it through!
