Rest

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ~Matthew 11:28

Little big girl

Tuckered out and worn

By demands of world

Unfriendly, hostile

Innocent heart longs

For peace, serenity

Cat Henry embraces

Melts your cares away

Intercedes with Father's

Blessing, reassuring

Beloved of what's true

And always will be

When God's rest is yours

You can trust in Him

Amen

  2. I'd say that is "one tired puppy." Oops I mean cat. I mean little person. Yeah, even children get tired and need a break. Loved the thoughts expressed in the poem Martha.

    1. Poor Virginia was a bit under the weather last week, Bill, and certainly needed to catch up on her sleep. When Sarah sent me the photo, this poem just jumped into my head. Glad you enjoyed it!

  5. Dearest Martha Jane,
What an endearing picture; telling so much about feeling loved and giving love and protection. Perfect verse added.

  10. Love it Ms. Martha. Can there be anything more peaceful than a child sleeping? Maybe a "Child of God" resting in the shadow of our Father's wings.

  12. Sometimes God speaks to us through his animals--even independent, moody cats. What a sweet picture, Martha!

    1. Cats can certainly be independent and moody, Nancy, but good ol' Henry breaks the mold. He loves Virginia beyond measure, and the bond runs deep. I do believe God speaks to my grandchild through this loyal kitty.

    1. Laurie, Virginia was really worn out at this moment my daughter, Sarah, took the photo. She came home from school complaining of a sore throat and had a bit of fever. Rest is exactly what she needed, and Henry knew he needed to be there with her. I guess wearing masks at school doesn't work, does it?
