Promised Land

Do what is right and good in the Lord's sight, so that it may go well with you and you may go in and take over the good land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors. ~Deuteronomy 6:18

I believe that America is God's new planting of the promised land.  The pilgrims came here with no other aspirations than to worship their Lord freely, and to love and respect their neighbors.  We all need to question, in these uncertain days, how we could ever stray from this premise, from this promise.  In light of what is now transpiring in this great nation of ours, blessed by God, we would do well to recall the disobedience of the Israelites, and how that legacy could possibly live on if we don't intercede with repentance and prayer.

Promised Land

Assurance given

God will be

Realized

Only and only

If Word is followed

To the letter

Straying not

To right or left

Staying on paths

God provides

Makes sure and smooth

And why would we

Not choose His ways?

Stuck in mire

Humanity

Fragile, doubting

Humanity

Rebellious, cruel

Humanity

Turn away

From evil thoughts

From idols robbing

Soul of being

In His care

In His love

Rest and remain

Amen!

  1. The ultimate conflict is man wanting to do it his way; and God lets him.

We need to pray more that people get to know God and follow His Word.

    Thanx Martha. God bless.

  4. Thank you for sharing this, Martha. We, God's children, do need to be praying for our country. It seems to me that we need to first confess our sins and our country's sins.

  7. We are a confused nation. Our churches are beginning to adopt the watered down versions of religion. If things are not in line with the Bible, then the truth is not being adhered to. We must confess, ask for forgiveness and repent. Avoid giving in to peer pressure. Pray for our nation and our nation’s churches. Thank you for this timely reminder, Martha. Blessings

    1. Nells, you have hit the nail on the head here! Our churches have been infiltrated by the social justice movement, not the "I love Jesus" revolution as it should be. Let us all pray that God's will be done, and that we will see a revival like one that has never been witnessed before.

  8. Have been praying my family and friends, and as many others as I can somehow influence, find their way to Christ and true salvation these past months my friend. I believe time is that short. Will I miss them in heaven? No, I don't believe we will because we'll be too busy worshipping God and won't remember this world. Will heaven miss them? Absolutely. And I am certain they'll regret their hardened or deceived hearts.

    1. Yes, J. D., we must pray that others who don't know the Lord would turn and seek His face, repenting of their sins, and letting His light shine in them. Wouldn't it be glorious if God's will would be done on earth as it is in Heaven? Praying for that day!

  9. Amen, Martha! Praying for our country every day. This year has certainly been one for the record books for craziness. Praying God's will be done, and that people will wake up and realize what blessings we have here before it is too late. God is trying to wake us up...but many have already fallen "asleep" I am afraid.

    1. Pamela, I think we are all praying for this country like never before, and we do need to continue doing so in all earnestness. May God's will be done before it is too late for too many, and may His justice prevail.

  12. Amen dear Martha.
.... in my prayers for your nation, I’ve lifted before the Lord God of glory the prayers of the pilgrim fathers prayed in those birthing times of your nation, agreeing with them and coveting Gods blessing upon your nation and peoples to serve the living God.
May God overrule in each day ahead, in every decision ahead and His keeping upon all His servants in the line of attack.

  13. I think we have pulled an "Israel." Strayed away from the truth and followed idols.

  15. Our aspirations should be the same as the Pilgrims' - to worship freely as we see fit and to love and respect our neighbors. Such a good point, Martha.

  16. With so much that has gone on in our nation including the distrust we have over our election process, seems we need a wake up call to come back to our roots and foundation. With our worship and Christian heritage in jeopardy I pray we will hold fast to the truths we know. Our nation and as people we need to repent for losing our focus, looking to a political candidate to bail us out instead of running to our prayer closets. God is not mocked and may we return with humility to Him as the only remedy to our nation.
