I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. ~Psalm 119:45
I embrace freedom
If it costs me life itself
Remember me, please?
Have joy, give thanks for
All who died to assure you
That freedom's not free.
Amen!
Have a blessed Memorial Day, my friends, and please take time today to pray for all our active troops, our veterans, and the precious souls who died in the service of this great country.
Praying. May they rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.

DeleteAmen, Victor! May we ever remember those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms.

Thanks Martha for the focus. I tried to do that yesterday during our worship services. I have prayed this morning in gratitude for the free country we live in and the lives where the ultimate sacrifice was paid and where many came home maimed in some way or to an ungrateful people (I'm thinking of VietNam especially). I'm also grateful to the men and women who served with honor and are still here. May you and Danny have a thanks-filled Memorial Day.
ReplyDeleteYou can bet that we are filled to the brim with thanks for these brave men and women who gave their all for us, Bill. I'm so glad to hear that you emphasized this in your sermon yesterday. I'll be sure to check it out!

Yes, freedom has a price. We should remember that and constantly honor the fallen and the survivors.
ReplyDeleteA large price, DUTA. So thankful for those brave men and women who were willing to die to protect us.

Amen, Martha.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Glynn.

DeleteI will definitely keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Those who have lost their lives to keep us safe have a special place in my heart.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure they always will, Debby, as they will ever be in the hearts of all of us.

Amen, Martha.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bill!

This is such a special day to remember those who gave their very lives for our nation and what it stands for. Thank you, Martha Jane for the reminder. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteIt is, indeed, a special day, Cecelia. Our goal should be to remember these brave warriors each and every day.

Such days are so important
ReplyDeleteAmen, Jo-Anne, they are.

Beautiful post, Martha Jane.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Barbara.

A beautiful poem, Martha. So many lives lost and it seems there are people today who don't understand or respect what freedom has cost.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem that way, Terri, and it's a sad state of affairs, for sure. Let's keep praying for our country!

Oh, what a debt of gratitude we owe these men, women and K-9's, too. There's been only One other who made such a sacrifice -- all in the name of love.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Myra, amen! I'm still thinking about these brave men and women who gave their all that we might live in freedom.

Thank you Ms. Martha. Nearly everyone who served, during times of war or conflict, have suffered the loss of buddies. More, I think, today, I think of the families of all those who gave their lives to preserve freedom. I join you in heartfelt appreciation for their sacrifice.
ReplyDeleteAmen, J. D.! There are so many stories of friends lost in battle; those who were with them have that seared in their memories. We both certainly do appreciate the sacrifices made.
DeleteLove and blessings!
Let's remember and thank them.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Christine! All of these men and women deserve our enduring thanks.

thecontemplativecat here. So many stories of sacrifice and death have come out most recently about Vietnam. We live in an area near Camp Pendleton, and too often see patriots who came back injured. Thanks for this post.
ReplyDeleteSusan, I'm glad this post hit close to home for you. I, too, feel such affection for the Vietnam veterans and those who never came home. That was our generation's war.

Another beautiful poem, Martha. Freedom isn't free. And as believers we must maintain freedom, Galatians 5:1.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen! God gave us the freedoms we have, and it is up to us to preserve them.

It is so sad to see the freedoms those dear souls bled and died for slipping away right before our eyes. I can't believe all that is happening to our country. God is our only hope, and they are trying their utmost to take Him out of everything. It is just heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteIt is heartbreaking, indeed, Cheryl. We need, with God's help, and all that is within our power, to stop those who would tear down every value and moral America stands for.

Thanks again, dear friend, for reminding us in simple yet deeply touching words that freedom is a priceless gift of God that millions of courageous men and women sacrificed their lives to protect and defend for us. And let's never forget that there were, and are, millions more whose bodies and minds were irrevocably affected by an enemy they never saw face to face. We are indebted to them and admonished by God to honor them by refusing to give away the freedom they paid such an awful price to ensure for us.
ReplyDeleteYou hit the nail on the head, Ron! Freedom is a priceless gift from God, and the least we can do, is honor those who gave their lives in service to this country that we might enjoy that freedom today. May we always cherish their memories.

We do indeed owe a great debt of gratitude to those who've given their lives (their families too) so that we could live free from tyranny. You've shared a beautiful tribute, Martha.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nancy - yes, we owe them our very lives.
DeleteLove and blessings!
praising God for the freedom we've found in Jesus ... and the privilege to live in a country where we can say so.
