God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. ~Genesis 1:25
The thing I loved most about summer when I was a child was not just the much-needed break from school, but the seemingly endless hours stretching before me each day, ones where I was free to play, swim and, most importantly, read to my heart's content. To say I'm a life-long lover of books is in the running for the understatement of the year!
And my bet is that those of you here at my blog love reading, too. Do you have your stack of summer novels all ready to go? Whether you do or don't, might I make a suggestion? How about reading my novel series, The Glade Series and Adventures in The Glade?
Here, in a nutshell, is what the books are all about:
Spending the summer at Grandpa Will's farm with his family is the last thing ten-year-old Davy Murray wants. How we survive without his friends, the pool and his beloved computer? There isn't even a television at Grandpa's house! Doesn't anyone see how miserable he will be?
In his frustration, Davy turns his anger on his mother, Kate, his sister, Anna, and especially his stepfather, Jim. Davy is determined to make their summer as dismal and disappointing as he believes his will be.
But then, Davy has a most surprising and unexpected encounter . . . one that will change his heart, and his world, forever.
With so much talk these days about how children, and their parents, even, are spending an inordinate amount of time with their noses stuck in their phones, isn't it time for a breath of fresh air? The Glade books encourage just that! While they might sound like they are only for young folks, adults are quick to fall in love with them, too. I like to tell people that the age range for the novels is nine to ninety-nine!
I know that many of you are long-time followers of my blog, but in the last several years, I've welcomed many new readers on board. Because of that, I'm hosting a give-away contest! Of course, as usual, it is too costly to mail books overseas; U. S. citizens, however, are all welcome to join in! Just leave a comment below to be automatically entered to win a copy of the first book in the series, A Trip, a Tryst and a Terror.
And for those of you who can't enter the contest, I hope you will check out my book website to order your own copies.
Happy summer reading to all!
Amen!
So nice of you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine!

I have a 10-year-old grandson who I think would love this book!
ReplyDeleteThe same age as Davy? Yes, Vickie, I'm sure he would love this book!

What a wonderful gesture! I still value those sitting in the bookshelf, just over my shoulder. So please leave my name out and let another deserving soul discover these treasures. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words here, Myra, and for displaying the first book in my series on your blog. It means so much!

What fun these books sound, and I wonder what discoveries Davy makes at Grandpa's farm. I have a 10-year old visiting a few times this summer and have lots of discoveries, and I hope a few godly lessons, in store for him. Your books sound like a great addition to every church library.
ReplyDeleteI have given several series to church libraries, J. D. I think your ten-year-old visitor would enjoy this read, and will definitely learn so much about God's love and the wonders of nature at your ranch this summer!

Although I am not a book reader myself, apart from the Bible, I am sure that your books will please many people.
ReplyDeleteThe books are definitely grounded in Christianity, Brenda, so you just may enjoy them.

I'm not commenting to be put in the drawing Martha since I have my own copies and the church library has a copy as well as the local home school co-op. (You were so generous to donate them to me I put one in the church library and gave one to the local co-op). Anyway, to all of your readers: these are a fun read and children (and adults) can learn vital life lessons along the way. I would not hesitate to get the whole set for your church, school, children or grandchildren...or for yourself. you will not be making a bad decision to do so.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the vote of support, Bill, and your affirmation of the story told in them. That means the world to me!

Include me in the drawing. Should I win that book, I will donate it to our church library. Maybe, even the children's department. Peace and blessings to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteGood luck in winning, Cecelia! If you do, be sure to read it first before donating.

I thought I had left a comment since I have read this but there is no comment, so I will say the world is full of great books, good books and other books because what I think is great or good someone else may think it is just so so.
ReplyDeleteEveryone does have their unique preferences when it comes to reading, Jo-Anne, that's for sure. It's a validation of how God has made us all unique.

Many children today fit the description of your Davy. Thank you for addressing this issue.
ReplyDeleteSadly, too many of today's kids have been sucked into social media and gaming, not realizing that there is a great big world out there just waiting for their discovery, Diana. Good luck on the drawing!

You know I LOVE your books and I highly recommend them to everyone! They were so much fun and yet very inspirational to read. You are a very gifted writer and I love your creativity in creating these sweet animal characters. You don't need to enter my name for the drawing since I already have them all. But I hope someone will get your book and then they will definitely want them all!! Take care and enjoy your summer.
ReplyDeletePamela, I know you've been one of my biggest fans from the beginning, and I appreciate that with all my heart! I've already had many new blog readers leave comments here, and I hope that one of them becomes the ultimate winner.
