A Poem and a Winner!

He made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down. ~Psalm 104:19

The Season's Sign

Cicadas fill the night

With cacophony

Of endless rhythm

Persistent call evokes

Summer's presence

Here and now

Cannot be denied

By those who hear

Those who heed

The season's sign and

Then take part in

The angels' chorus

Amen!

  3. Congratulations to Diana! And the poem is great. I think I saw a cicada "shell" on the steps today...it was empty...apparently he took wing and flew! Maybe I can hear him singing out there if I listen! Beautiful!

  6. About a month ago, we had cicadas dropping all over the place. Our driveway looked like a cicada graveyard.

  9. Great poem Martha. And congrats to Diana. I believe you will enjoy them and if you have children I KNOW they will. As for cicadas, we had an influx of them a couple of years ago. I think it was called The Year of the Cicada. They make a lot of noise.

  12. I don't remember ever hearing the hum of cicadas during our 40 years in FL. Now that we're back in the Midwest, their summer serenades take me back also to my youth and childhood. Such a delight, as long as it's background "music." When it becomes a racket requiring earplugs (like it did a few summers ago)--not so pleasant!
