In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God at the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. ~John 1:1-3
There is the Word
There is a choice
One stands eternal
Other one deceives
One would look
With eyes unjaded
On the obvious
Yet, obfuscated
Is the truth
By the liar
From the beginning
Awake, our souls
To learn, discern
The voice of the Lord
Cry out for mercy
Plead forgiveness
Embrace God's grace
And pass it on
To those who trespass
Amen!
Indeed God has always existed with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
ReplyDeleteThank you Martha for your wisdom and talent. Great post.
God bless you and yours always.
Thank you, Victor, for your kind words here. So appreciated!

You are right, Martha, - deception is in the air!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, Glynn! Sometimes, I feel it's palpable.

"Plead forgiveness Accept God's grace." That's what it is all about!!
ReplyDeleteAmen, Bill! That's exactly what it's all about.

Wonderful, wonderful. Discernment... a gift from the Holy Spirit!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Marja! Discernment is a gift from the Holy Spirit.

Powerful! Thank you for writing this, Martha. I'm tightening the belt on my armor right now.

Dearest Martha Jane,
ReplyDeleteNo one can detest the existence of a God/Creator!
Your line:'Yet, obfuscated Is the truth By the liar' is a FACT as well.
Hugs,
Mariette
Yes, Mariette, the father of lies is running rampant in our country right now. May God help and preserve us!
DeleteLove and blessings!
Martha Jane, may indeed God help us all and may people come to their senses; in many ways!
DeleteAmen to that, Mariette!
DeletePowerful words, Martha! Jesus, the One and Only...the One who spoke the world into existence. Amen!

God is the One and the Only, Kim. That is for certain!

ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words, Terri. Much appreciated!

We've been reading the Creation story in Genesis this week in our devotions. It is so wonderful to know that God spoke the word and the worlds were created...and that "In the Beginning the Word was with God, and the Word was God!" All that was made was made by Him...Jesus Christ, the Word of God!
ReplyDeleteAmen, Pamela! I do so love the book of Genesis - so revealing of God's infinite power and grace.

Martha, this verse completely recalibrates our focus and brings it back to God's power, plan, and purposes. 'The things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.'
ReplyDeleteThank you for this needed nudge to look upward!
In these troubling days, Linda, we all need that nudge to look up, not letting our vision wander from side to side from one uncertainty to another. Glad this post spoke to you!

love this beginning of the Book of John. I am reading through this book right now in my Bible readings. Embrace God's grace and pass it on. We all are trespassers. Wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad this post spoke to your heart, Laurie. And yes, we are all trespassers; we should be quick to forgive others.
DeleteLove and blessings!
