Prayers Answered!

Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. ~James 5:16

Thank you, one and all, for your sincere and heartfelt prayers for my husband, Danny!  On Monday, he underwent the catheter probe to see what's happening with his heart since the pacemaker shocked him on Friday.

It's nothing less than a miracle that his heart learned to grow around a stint he had put in place after his 1999 heart attack.  We've all heard about how our livers can regenerate, but the heart???  Perhaps, it's due to Danny's determination to work out at the gym as often as possible after recovering from that heart attack.

But I think, instead, it is God's hand at work in all of this.

We have hope that Danny will be released today, or by the latest, Wednesday.  He will have to take a medicine that regulates the heart's rhythm from here on out.  The good news?  This should place him on a secure route to recovery and maintenance.  The bad news?  He can't drive for six months!

That leaves our spring break plans to visit with the grands impossible.  As many of you know, I can't tolerate driving on expressways; I'd be putting both of our lives in jeopardy were I even attempt such a feat.

Am I disappointed?  Of course!  But then I remember - I was praying to God that He would restore Danny to me, not guarantee our trip to South Carolina.

And our faithful and loving Father has done just that.

I couldn't ask for anything more.

Thanks once again, from the bottom of my heart, for all of your prayers lifted on Danny's behalf.

Amen!

  1. Oh my, I'm late to hearing about your prayer request, but so very thankful that the Lord answered your prayer, and took care of Danny's heart in such a remarkable way! Such a blessing for the hand of the Lord upon Danny's heart. Will be continuing in prayer for his heart to continue to heal quickly. I know the trip to see the family means so much to you, so I am going to pray that the Lord will make a way, somehow for all of you to be together. Sending much love with a grateful heart for the hand of the Lord on your lives!

  3. Great news Martha! I like your perspective though on not being able to see the grands. You have Danny restored to you. That is praise in itself. If God is big enough to do that (and He is) He will make it possible for a visit to take place-maybe sooner than later. :) I'm glad to have been a part of the prayer team.

  7. Dearest Martha Jane,
So happy that this sudden scare has been put to an end!
Yes, prayers DO help and only God has the power for keeping us going; or not...
What a lovely story for Holy Week and it is only sad that you don't trust yourself to drive.
Would love to 'deliver' both of you but it is quite a circle to make!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  11. Oh, so happy that Danny is going to be okay and that God is healing him. I am sorry about your travel plans, but pray that maybe your family can come to you? You have been so patiently waiting to be with them, I do hope something can be worked out so you can be together sooner than another 6 months. May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you and take care of ALL your needs abundantly. Have a blessed Holy week.

  14. Oh, how I'm over-joyed to know Mr. Danny is recovering. I'm saddened you can't travel to see the kids, but I also know that sometimes an answer to prayer is actually a blessing that we can't see in the moment. You guys hang in there and let God do what He does best. :-) Love you both; with God's love!

  17. As you know, I stay out of Martha's blogworld, but I do read them all and usually all of the comments. I want to thank each of you for supporting Martha and for praying for me. This was a most frightening time and I have faced a few. As this journey began, I uttered in my prayers what I was taught for many years with Pastor Wallace, a huge figure in my life; I said, "God, this is going to be a hard and difficult storm, will you ride this one out with me?" Thank you friends. Danny
