When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. ~Matthew 14:14
We just get my mother moved into a beautiful assisted living facility last Friday, when Sunday finds her back in the emergency room because she is struggling to breathe. And that's with oxygen!
The news comes as we are driving back to Kennesaw, but that turns out to be a good thing. The medical POA is in our safe at home, and the hospital definitely needs a copy of that in order to proceed with any treatments. It is sent to them pronto.
I don't need to tell you, as you've probably already guessed, we do not hold out much hope for Mom's full recovery. But once again, at least for now, she's beaten the odds. They will be placing her in a regular hospital room, after a night in ICU, as I write this on Monday.
Our concerns for her health are many. She is sleeping way too much, not eating enough, doesn't have the strength to do meaningful PT, and still has a bed sore that, although its being treated, could lead to sepsis. Since things are touch and go at the moment, I will not be blogging again this week unless we find out something definitive.
Prayers are still welcomed as our entire family and her circle of friends need all the comfort and peace we can get. And of course, prayers are needed for Mom, too. She is in dire need of healing, either here on earth, or at home in heaven when she feels Jesus' healing touch and knows she is well for all eternity.
Thank you, dear friends, and I do hope my next news is good news.
Amen!

DeleteI will continue to pray with you for your precious mother. I know she is in God's care, and He will do what is best for her at this time in her life. You can rest assured that He will not leave her nor forsake her in her hour of need. "For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21. Either way is a win. Praying for your peace now.
ReplyDeleteYes, Pamela, it is a win-win either way. Thank you for your prayers!

Oh Martha. I feel your quandary, having been in similar circumstances in 2018 when my dear father (age 94) graduated to heaven. It was blessed relief as his quality of life had deteriorated so drastically. I'm grateful he slipped away in his sleep and without pain. Hard to say good-bye and yet we were happy for him that life's trials were finally over. I pray God's peace, strength and comfort minister to you in powerful ways during this difficult time, dear Martha.
ReplyDeleteYes, Nancy, it's so hard to lose a loved one, and I know you miss your dad to this day. Mom is rallying, and we're now scrambling to find her health care at home. Your prayersare so appreciated.
