John 6:65
He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them."
"I dare you to do it."
"What do you mean, you dare me?"
"I think you're scared to try."
"Well, what if I am? Just because this on-line dating service has a good rep doesn't mean I'll find Mr. Right."
"No, but if you don't take the risk, you'll never know, will you?"
"Okay, okay! I'll do it. Don't want to, but, I will."
"Good! Martha, you are a wonderful, attractive woman. You deserve to find love. I know you will."
"That makes one of us."
"Hang up the phone. Go for it!"
"Okay. Bye."
How ironic! An old college flame telling me to give it the old college try . . . for someone else.
I take the dare. I keep my promise. I don't have much hope.
Or, do I?
Personal profile completed, I wait. Every day seems like a year.
I wait.
Prospects pop up. So do red flags.
Then . . .
There is the profile. There is the face I now know so well.
Danny.
Who tries this site as the last resort. Has so many more hits than I.
Yet, chooses me . . .
And, I choose him.
Because God has chosen us to be together . . .

When in your life have you experienced God's mighty hand guiding you? Leading you?
Will you pray with me?
In creating us in Your image, Father, You have enabled us to have faith; the faith You first give to us. We can trust You, knowing You have the best plan for our lives. We thank you for all the blessings You bestow upon us. May we ever see and appreciate the works of Your mighty hands. Amen.

Martha..that could be my story with Jose...we met online too and in a couple of days, even without meeting face to face, we 'knew'. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone else, but it worked for us, because it was meant to be. Every day I give thanks for God's guidance that led us to be together. Now, I feel even more connected to you, dearest friend. ♥
ReplyDeleteWow, Corinne, that is amazing to find we have this in common! We both "knew", too. :)
DeleteI, too, thank Him every day for Danny.
So glad He brought Jose and you together . . .
God is so good to have connected us as friends - what a blessing you are to me, Corinne! :)
May God bless you today and always!
that is an awesome story ... one that I can relate!
ReplyDeleteone evening after having a weekend trip canceled at the very last minute, I bumped into a group of friends and was sitting there talking to them, when in walked this man and when I looked up and our eyes met ... my heart went boom! A sailor passing through town, on his way home to another state, decided at the very last minute to stop...
Well 9 years and 2 kids later he still makes my heart go boom, he is my greatest supporter, a wonderful father and man; I am so grateful that on occasion I am fully open and present to receive, as Corinne mentioned, Gods guidance.
You too, Amy? ♥
DeleteThanks for dropping by, Amy, and sharing your awesome story! Just marvelous how you met "the one"!
DeleteI wish you every happiness as your marriage continues in love.
Blessings!
Such a beautiful story...I do agree that we meet someone who is meant to be the 'one'.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Janu!

Funny enough Martha, my wife and I met online as well... 17+ years ago. :-)
ReplyDeleteGod uses many ways to bring us to the ones we're meant for.
Have a Blessed Day!
Wow, Phil, really? Another one? :)
DeleteMay God continue to bless the 17+ and many, many more filled with love and joy!
Blessings to you, too, and thanks for dropping in!
Romance and theology all wrapped up with a bow! You know, you know, you know, I heart that! I can't stay long here – I have to run – posts to post – and I'm really sleepy – but I'm determined – and your theory about Martha – I hearted that – you're actually in today's post. God bless you Martha – I heart learning from you! You're a first class Berean.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Craig, for stopping in and leaving such a kind comment. I, too, will be running, running, running around today, but will be sure to check on your blog post later this afternoon. Wow, I'm humbled to know something I wrote you can use.
DeleteBlessings to you!
oooops Craigd - typos - grrrrrrrr - told you I was sleepy - God bless. :)
ReplyDelete:)
Delete...and truely I thought never again after what had come before. Slowly, Martha coaxed me toward the cliff and she was patient. I didn't ever think I would trust enough to gaze over the edge, much less head to the beach. But, you know, I had never seen a beach like this before; strong, dependable, beautiful, and ever changing. Thank God - really - thanks
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful words . . .
DeleteI love you, Danny!!!
You know it is amazing how and when you meet the one, your soul mate. Online meeting is something I am very weary of but I know there have been many successful stories. The first person that came to my mind before reading your post was Corinne and now it is you. God bless you dear friend. Very few are fortunate enough to find their soul mates. I wish you love and blessings always
ReplyDeleteOh, Rimly, what kind words you have written here for both Corinne and me. Yes, we are two extremely fortunate women to have found our soul mates.
DeleteI thank God every day for sending Danny to me . . .
Blessings to you and thank so much for stopping by!
It's great that yourself and Corinne found true love as well as best friends; Hope there's many more years for all. I too can attest to online dating as a way to meet quality folks though I'm currently single due to my choice :)
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you here, David!
DeleteCorinne and I are surely blessed. Hope you find that special "one" some day! :)
Blessings!
Sweet! Nuf said.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra! :)
DeleteBlessings!
Thanks, Jan!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Wow Martha and Corinne, I didn't know that :P
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful to hear that you 'knew' deep in your heart that 'he' is the one. I'm not sure if I've given up trying ~ or if it is what I truly wish to have.
I pray that God may lead me to 'that' person...before Valentine's day LOL... oh okay, in God's time...
I know! Isn't that amazing? I had no clue until Corinne told me here.
ReplyDeleteI, too, pray that God will lead you to the very one He has chosen for you. That young man is out there, believe me!
Blessings and thanks so much for coming by, Melissa!
Hello Martha.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter how you met...you have been guided together to be a compliment to one another. I give praise & thanks everyday for my beloved wife. I know how sad & lonely life was for me before she made it beautiful. I was only half before, now I am completely whole (smile). I believe there is someone special for everyone. We just have to be patient & let love do its thing. After all, love knows no time, distance or borders, no color or creed. Love is eternal.
Wishing you & Danny much love & happiness for the rest of your days.
Wonderful post.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh, Andy, thank you for these beautiful thoughts shared here and for your wishes for Danny's and mine continued happiness.
DeleteYes, it is such a blessing to find "the one" and am so gratified to know that you have found yours. The poems you compose are such sweet testimony to your precious relationship with your beloved.
Life is so much harder, so much more lonely, without our soul mate . . .
May God bless you and your treasured marriage always!
Blessings,
Martha
